Alden NY Man charged in Relation to January 6th Capitol Events

Buffalo NY-- On Tuesday, May 18, 2021 a Western New York man was arrested for his alleged participation in the January 6th events at the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. According to an FBI criminal complaint, the client was charged in connection with the events in Washington D.C. Following the events at the Capitol on January 6th, countless individuals who attended or were present for the events that transpired that day have been arrested and charged by law enforcement. Some records show over 400 individuals have been charged across the United States.

The client was arrested Tuesday and charged with violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, knowing entering or remaining in a restricted building or without authority, and knowingly with the intent to impede and the orderly conduct of government, according to the Department of Justice. This type of case does not pop up every day. These types of cases take specific attention to detail.

There are facts presented that lead to an arrest, but the facts must also be presented in court to determine the just outcome and sentence. Like any legal case, a defendant is entitled to defend themselves in court and is considered innocent until proven guilty.

According to reports from NBC News, the FBI received a tip about the client's involvement from an unidentified person who overheard the client discussing their experience on January 7th at their dentist office, the complaint said.

The evidence presented by the FBI is subject to cross examination, in addition to defense by legal representation. The client had an initial appearance in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York on Tuesday and is due to appear in D.C. district court next week.

Daniel DuBois, attorney, said the defense was "looking forward to all of the facts and circumstances surrounding the events of January 6th coming to light."
